After being a soldier for 17 years Tommie Smit resigned from the defense force in 1992 and opened a spares shop in Lebowakgomo, the capital of the former homeland Lebowa. Tracey, Tommie's wife then a teacher also resigned and joined the business as the business rapidly grew to 16 outlets all in and around Polokwane, the former Pietersburg. Zander Smit, after completing school joined the business in 2003. After a holiday in the Cape in 2013, we enjoyed the lifestyle so much that we were looking at relocating to Cape Town. The opportunity to for fulfill our dream arose in 2014 when the Midas Group offered to buy our previous business and we all relocated to Cape Town in December 2015.
Spares being in our blood we started looking to purchase a Midas branch where we could carry on and create a future for ourselves in Cape Town. So, in 2016 we managed to buy Modern Auto Midas situated in Salt River.
In 2019 we managed to secure our own building in Salt River, and we are now situated at 135 Voortrekker road.
We pride ourselves on suppling quality affordable parts, oils, tools, and accessories to the public and to the trade. Our focus is on parts for cars, bakkies and taxi’ s.
Our motto is “NO PROBLEM” and by this we mean that if we do not have a specific part, we will find it for you or point you in the right direction to find it yourself. We also do not hassle our clients when it comes to returns.
